We have lots of ways to help. Mix and match these options.

  • Personal consultation in person or via chat. During Reference hours, you can ask a librarian for help, suggestions, recommendations, and strategy tips. Come in person to the 2nd floor Reference Desk or contact us via Chat or Text. If it's after hours, you can chat with a librarian from another campus with our 24/7 service.

  • Subject Pages.  Go to Articles and Databases by Subject  and click on the link for your course department. You will find:
-- The most useful databases for the subject area. Search with keyword concepts discussed in your class or textbook.
-- Course Guides for assignments and Research Guides for search strategies, specialized reference books and ebooks, web sites, statistical sites, and more.
-- Contact info for your subject librarian  to make an appointment for a personal consultation.
  • Exploring diverse topics.
These databases search mulitple subject areas and interdisciplinary topics.
-- Discovery searches for articles, plus books and government documents. Find it on the ReSEARCH Station front page.
-- Academic Search covers most topics, and includes all types of periodical articles from scholarly/peer-reviewed journals, magazines, trade journals, and newspapers.
-- Library Catalog , a "database" of books, videos, and more. Find a few books by keyword and then browse in the relevant call number section in the Main Collection on the 3rd floor. We have a growing collection of ebooks so you can also browse online!

  • Online and print reference collection.
Use academic, subject-specialized encyclopedias to get up to speed on facts & figures and the current scholarly knowledge on any topic. Use their short bibliographies to give you leads to relevant articles and books. -- Try searching the online encyclopedias
-- Ask a librarian for recommendations in person at the 2nd floor Desk, by Chat, or by Texting during Reference service hours.
